CIPR International hosts joint breakfast event with Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations International Committee (CIPR International) hosted a joint breakfast event with the Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub (MAFH) in Port Louis, Mauritius, on 19 November 2019, focusing on the theme ‘Mauritius as the FinTech hub for Africa’.

CIPR International committee member Samantha Seewoosurrun MCIPR introduced the MAFH CEO, Michal Szymanski, who gave the PR professionals convened by CIPR a presentation on FinTech fundamentals and the evolution of this emerging technology, with all its implications for inclusive growth in Africa. This was followed by a preview of the Africa FinTech Festival to be held in Mauritius in May 2020, which will provide a key opportunity to position the island on the international stage and to enhance its reputation as a hub for FinTech and innovation, where PR professionals were able to share their ideas.

The CIPR team and MAFH members were privileged to be joined by His Excellency Keith Allan, the British High Commissioner to Mauritius, who attended the session and congratulated MAFH for winning the prestigious honour of hosting the Africa FinTech Festival.

Speaking after the event, Samantha Seewoosurrun MCIPR, Member of the CIPR International Committee, said: “We are delighted to have co-hosted today’s breakfast with the Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub. The Africa FinTech Festival 2020 will provide a great opportunity for PR professionals from across the island to come together to promote the key message that Mauritius is emerging as the leading FinTech hub for Africa, which will attract new market players to the island and help foster economic growth. The campaign starts here!”

The third week of November marks the start of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) with Mauritius joining over 170 countries around the world in celebrating the 12th edition of this exciting event. Thus, for the CIPR International Committee, joining forces with MAFH during this week proved to be a mutually rewarding opportunity.
